NPC AWARENESS DAY

On November 11th, 2023, the Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Society of Malaysia (NPCSM) organized "NPC Awareness Day" at the Concourse, Sunway University. The event was held in conjunction with the Lung Cancer Awareness Charity Run, which was organized by Sunway University. The NPC Awareness Day aimed to raise public awareness about NPC, with the theme “Early Detection Saves Lives”. The event was well-received with around 80 participants visiting the NPC Awareness Booth. Attendees participated in fun quizzes and won prizes after learning about NPC through educational posters and information provided by NPCSM members. The highlight of the event was the presence of two ENT specialists, Associate Professor Dr. Liew Yew Toong and Dr. Sakina Ghauth, along with nurse Ms. Siti Nurain Che Aziz, who provided free screening through nasopharyngoendoscopy to around 38 participants. The nasopharyngoscope was kindly sponsored by Evomedic Sdn Bhd. We are extremely grateful for everyone's support and participation in the NPC Awareness activity.

11th NPC Research Day

The society’s pinnacle annual event - the 11th NPC Research Day was held at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Setia Alam, on the 14th March 2023, co-organized with the Institute of Medical Research (IMR). The meeting was attended by over 70 participants including clinicians, scientists and post-graduate students. Two speakers, Assoc. Prof. Lim Chwee Ming [Singapore] and Dr. Wei Dai [Hong Kong], gave virtual presentations while others presented their talks in-person. It was a fruitful conference covering diverse topics of great interest to the NPC research community, including preclinical models, integrative multi-omics studies, genetic screen to discover new targets, leveraging on natural killer cell therapeutics and machine learning approaches in targeting EBV oncoproteins. Gordon Research Conference on NPC


The Gordon Research Conference on NPC is a biannual international conference attended by world renowned researchers in the field of NPC. The event took place from 8th to 13th May 2022, in Spain. The NPC Society of Malaysia (NPCSM) has provided travel allowances to support the attendance of ten members to present their research at this prestigious conference. Among them, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yap Lee Fah, the president of NPCSM was one of the invited speakers at the conference, while three other members were also selected for short talks.

World Cancer Day 2020

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Society of Malaysia (NPCSM) participated in the Launch of The World Cancer Day at KL Sentral on 4th February 2020. This event was organized by the Malaysian Oncological Society in collaboration with Ministry of Health Malaysia, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), Pertubuhan Pembangunan Kendiri Wanita dan Gadis (WOMEN: girls) as well as a number of civil societies. This launch aims to raise public awareness and literacy about cancer with the theme “I am and I will” emphasizing the effort that each one of us can do to battle cancer.

Relay for Life KL 2019

A team from the Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Society of Malaysia (NPCSM) attended the Relay for Life KL 2019 which was organized by the National Cancer Society Malaysia on 27th July 2019 at Padang Timur, Dataran Petaling Jaya. It is an annual event aims to unite communities to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost, raise awareness as well as funds for cancer. To support the aim of raising cancer awareness, NPCSM presented a poster on NPC.
